Hunter Success for Partbred Cleveland Bay
Sue and Nigel Cowgill have marked the end of an outstanding show season by receiving a prestigious award from Sporthorse GB at the National Supreme Hunter Championship at Addington Equestrian Centre on 7 September 2010. Their Part Bred Cleveland Bay filly Hawlmark Classic Twilight was joint national winner of the 2 year old Hunter Youngstock award which had operated on a points system at qualifying shows across the country. Twilight is by the Sporthorse Stallion Classic out of homebred pure Cleveland Bay Premium mare Highpasture Hawlmark. She received the award having remained unbeaten in Hunter classes in 2010.
Twilight had Hunter wins at Hambleton, Ryedale, The Yorkshire Sport Horse Show and the Great Yorkshire Show. In addition she was Supreme Hunter Champion and Hunter Youngstock Champion at the Yorkshire Sporthorse Show and was also Part Bred Cleveland Bay Champion at the Great Yorkshire Show. In Autumn 2009, Twilight was awarded a BEF Futurity First Premium in eventing, the first Part Bred Cleveland Bay to achieve that accolade.
Nigel said “We are delighted to win this award after what has been another fantastic season for us with this filly. Twilight’s dam Hawlmark was Champion Cleveland Bay at the Great Yorkshire show but then contracted and survived Equine Grass Sickness, so her foals are very special to us. We were keen to put Hawlmark to the TB stallion Classic whose stock have been so successful and it has proved to be an excellent cross. We will continue Twilight’s career next year alongside her full brother who was born in June and looks likely to be another exciting PBCB prospect”.
