NEW INTERNATIONAL GROUP
Ambitious project aims for more effective promotion of the Cleveland Bay

A worldwide initiative has been launched to identify as many as possible pure and part-bred Cleveland Bays and to record their achievements. The aim is to analyse the data collected to correlate particular pedigree lines with general or specific abilities. The programme will also be able to highlight top performers in any category. The achievements of these horses can be publicized to promote the qualities and contributions that CBs are able to make in the wider equine world. To this end a working group led by Colin Green has established the ‘International Cleveland Sporthorse Group’ (ICSG). The Clevleand Bay Horse Society of North America and the Cleveland Bay Horse Society of Australasia along with the CBHS have agreed to set up their own committees and to collaborate fully on data collection details allowing mutual exchange of all information.
Milinda Ellis (email: milinda@ezmailbox.net) has agreed to be the Chairman of the North American group. Michelle Coburn (email: shell@cmsporthorses.com) will Chair the Australasia group. Colin Green (email: tregoyd.colin123@btinternet) is Chairman of the UK group and also leader of this CBHS programme. These three will act as the principal contacts for collating information.
Everyone can play a part in this by sending to their Society representative (Colin Green in the UK) details of any known active pure and part-bred sporthorses. Widespread involvement is vital to ensure the greatest geographical coverage. The project is seeking as much information as possible e.g. name; owner/rider/driver; contact details; equine discipline, %CB; breeding; source of information; photograph. Even if only a small amount of information is available that too would be welcome. If you feel that you would like to volunteer to be more involved in searching for horses please get in touch with your Society representative. The more people there are searching and reporting, the more successful will be the outcome. ***

The contacts are ready to start receiving data right now. The programme includes all pure and part-bred Cleveland Bay horses (regardless of coulour) down to 12.5% CB blood. If you have information, please make a report - don't assume that it is already on the database. ***

***We now have a poster publicizing the ICGS and what it is trying to do and a form for collecting data. Both can be downloaded as Word documents which you can print out. It would be useful if you could take a poster and some forms to your local tack shop, riding club etc.
