Although this is the website of the Southern Cleveland Bay Club, we operate a policy of geographical non-discrimination in reporting about horses, people and events. The only requirement is a Cleveland connection. This short report is all about a very northerly young horse, Stainmore Rueben. Bred by our northernmost member, Barbara Martindale in 2006, he is by Southbrook Warlord out of Stainmore Scotch Rose. Rueben was bought as s two year old by Lyndsey Dow of Alyth, Perthshire in March 2008. He was then about 14.2; now he is 16.2 so his new owner is wondering if she will need a step-ladder. Lyndsey, who previously had an Irish Draught, is now a very proud Cleveland advocate.

Lyndsey is particularly delighted by Rueben's performance at the Royal Highland where he was placed sixth in a strong class of nine with several professionals/producers showing. With the showing season now drawing to a close, we have asked Lyndsey to keep us informed of how this promising youngster develops next year.

"He makes a great impression on all who meet him and has", says Lyndsey, "such a nice (but sometimes cheeky) personality". When Lyndsey met Rueben's sire, Warlord, it was obvious where his amazing temperament came from. A concerted effort has been made to show Rueben whenever possible. Since his second outing (at the Angus Show in 2008) he has never been out of the placings. There may not be any CB classes in the Scottish Shows but Rueben has proved that he can mix it with the best of the rest - no problem! Below is a list of his achievements to date.
