This year's excellent Flintham Ploughing Match and Agricultural Show on 22nd September, again included a Ridden Ceveland Bay class sponsored by Light Horse Secretary Chris Graham. The smaller than hoped for class nevertheless attracted good horses from near and far. These included two brought by well know part bred breeder, Jane Moore and Tracey McKenna's 18hh Oaten Strider from Cheshire who won at Equifest. From closer to home was Ted, owned and elegantly ridden side saddle by Julie Tomlinson. Fortunately, the ridden judge, Miss Grace Gostelow (Derbys) is also a side saddle judge. But it was Roz Bosworth's Trudi Thornton, ridden by daughter Amy Bosworth, who for the second year running claimed first place and the Harrington Grenella trophy (sponsored by Pamela Shipley). Second place and the Brilliant & Dark salver (sponsored by Chris Graham) was taken by Jane Moore's Jemoon Musicman. Jane's other horse, Jemoon Tambourine Man, ridden by Eva Katkevica was third. Fourth place went to Ted with seven year old Oaten Strider, ridden by Adrian Bradburn being awarded the Best Turned Out prize and sash sponsored by Shaw & Co. (Equine Solicitors). Conformation judge was Mr John Newborough (Lincs). Photographs will be posted soon.
