Rowena's Delight

SainteLucie Celine Isolina at Thame

Despite spending most of her time in London, Rowena Scrimshaw is a dedicated amateur breeder and an ardent promoter of the Cleveland Bay.   Her six year old mare was bred to produce a high quality partbred to represent and promote the breed.   SainteLucie Celine Isolina is by premium stallion Penrhyn Dictator, out of Rowena's former thoroughbred/Cleveland Bay cross mare, who is a full sister to Crown Alliance, a very successful eventer and Badminton contestant.   She is a bright bay, with black points, 16.2hh.   At 3/4 Cleveland, she has more CB than many part breds.

Celine was entered in both the in hand and ridden Cleveland Bay classes at the 2011 Thame Show in Oxfordshire.  This was only the second ridden class she had entered.  (Although now six, her career was interrupted for the very good reason that her trainer and rider, Jane Harper, took time off to produce two babies of her own!)  To Rowena's delight, Celine gained a second place in both her classes and was judged Best part bred Cleveland Bay.   She saw this as an endorsement of the excellent progress now being made with the mare's training.   She is already showing a great liking for cross country and Jane is also intending to train Celine for side saddle.

Both Rowena and Jane are now looking forward to more shows in 2012, where Celine will continue to fly the flag for the breed (in both Cleveland and non Cleveland classes)!
