We have received the following announcement from the Mrs Chris Graham, Light Horse Secretary of the Flintham Show, confirming that a Cleveland Bay class will be included in the schedule for the third year running.
The Cleveland Bay at the 91st Flintham & District
Ploughing Match & Agricultural Show
The 91st Flintham & District Ploughing Match & Agricultural Show is to be held at Crossroads, Main Street, Hawksworth, Nottinghamshire, NG13 9DA this year on Thursday, the 23rd September.
Conscious of the “Critical” rating given to the Cleveland Bay by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust and the need to preserve our oldest indigenous breed of English horse, the Light Horse Committee has agreed to include a Ridden Cleveland Bay Horse class for the third year running in 2010. The class is for Pure or Part Bred Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, and will be split if there are sufficient entries. Prize money to 4th place, and rosettes to 6th place will be awarded, as well as the HARRINGTON GRENELLA MEMORIAL TROPHY. There is also a prize of £50 and a sash for the “Best Turned Out”, kindly donated by Shaw and Co., Equine Law Specialists.
If the class attracts good entries this year, we shall continue running it. So come on all you Cleveland Bay Pure and Part Bred exhibitors, let’s see you at Hawksworth this year, showing off the marvellous versatility of your breed.
Other classes for the Cleveland Bay Horse to enter: Open Riding Horse, Novice Ridden Hunter, Open Ridden Hunter, Open Working Riding Horse or Cob, Novice Working Hunter and Open Working Hunter.

Chris Graham has also been given £100 in prize money and there will be no entry fees for the Ridden Cleveland Bay class!
Flintham is a traditional mid-week Agricultural Show, running a handful of light horse classes, but it attracts top riders. Katie Jarrom, Clare Blaskey, local top Producers and Panel Judges all attend Flintham. It also attracts loads of spectators - the perfect place to show off the Cleveland Bay to a new audience. Everyone loves Flintham. Local farmers take the day off, schools bring bands of children to see the hounds and now the Show includes driving classes.
Judging on the day will be top professional producer Charles Le Moighnan.
Remember - a good number of CB entries this year is crucial to keeping the class for the future.
